I am buying car insurance for a 21 year old child who will attend graduate school out of state. Primary address will still be with me. Car will be in my name; child/student will be listed as primary driver. Child/student will live in an apartment while at graduate school. Does the insurance company need to know in what state the student will be?

Typically insurance companies ask where the car will be “garaged”, that its, where it will be typically parked at night. Some places are safer than others. My understanding is that they use the location as part of the formula to compute the premium.
yes, the insurance company needs to know where the car will be garaged and used..so they can rate it correctly..basically your son will have to get a policy from whichever state he will be in…it doesnt matter the mailing address
yes because insurance laws are different in each state.
Yes they need to know where the car is located also they will need to know how far it is driven daily, and the age of the driver.
I know Geico needs to know. If something were to happen to a car “garaged” in one state and having a “residence” in another that the insurance company doesn’t know about, they don’t have to pay the claim.
The car should have the physical address of where it is garaged. It could effect your rates, may be cheaper where the student goes to school.
Yes, they will need to know where the car will be kept in.
Yes it is important for a car insurance company to get on on what state does their client belong because it is one of their basis to calculate the inusrance premium. One thing also is the age of a client, if you are at young, Im you will be paying a high insurance premium. For more clarification about car insurance premium , try to search it on the net, visit this site not only about car insurance will be given for you here but also lists of car insurance company that offering cheap car insurance that will surely provide your car insurance needs.
Absolutely. Your insurance company may not write business in the state where your child will be attending school. If that is the case your child would need to purchase insurance in the state where the vehicle will be primarily “garaged” or kept.
You can try
hi check this link its good
.
Getting the cheapest policy is not always the best either. Compare the options and rates from several places. Getting quotes online is quick and easy and way better than sitting on the phone. Any way you look at it paying car insurance is not fun! . If you shop around and compare quotes, you can save a TON of money.Car insurance is a requirement for driving in the US.
Good luck.
